Do you have a university interview?
Don’t know how to prepare for it?
I found a few simple but effective tips from this website.
First, have a thorough look at the prospectus, paying particular attention to the course you want to study. If you’re already familiar with the university and the course, it will show the tutors you’re committed to studying at their university. It will also save you from having to ask simple questions.
Go over your personal statement, as it’s an obvious source of questions for admissions tutors, and is often used as a first question in the interview to help put you at ease. Make sure you have answers prepared for the common ones such as ‘why do you want to study here?’ and ‘why have you chosen to study this subject?’.
Do some mock interviews with teachers, career advisors and/or parents. When you go for your actual interview, you may find it’s nothing like your mock – don’t be discouraged though, it’s all good practice.
Finally, get plenty of sleep the night before so you feel refreshed and ready for your interview.
What do I wear?
It’s far better to be badly dressed and confident than it is to be well dressed and look really uncomfortable in the interview.
At your interview you will see people wearing clothes with different levels of smartness ranging between smart-casual to a full suit and tie - so whatever you end up wearing, there are likely to be people who are both smarter and less smart than you.
Also remember that interviewers aren’t going to dress up for you, so there’s no need to dress up for them.”

I encountered this issue today; I attempted to go to my last lesson of the day after going out to lunch and a woman working at the school office stopped me and said I had to go home and get it even though she knew exactly who I was and refused to give me a temporary sticker badge (and didn’t refuse the person next to me the temporary sticker badge even though he didn’t have his ID either) or make an exception.
Going back home would take me 20 minutes, and returning to school would, in total, take 40 minutes, meaning I would basically have less than 10 minutes of a lesson left over.
That 50 minute lesson was a crucial part of my A Level education and the topics covered in that lesson was part of my exam, which is in less than 3 months which had been jeopardized by this rule.
I believe it is unfair to those who have simply just forgotten it to miss vital lessons.

There is growing outrage in Uganda over a viral internet film viewed by more than 32 million people in four days that suggests Africa’s longest-running conflict is still raging in the country’s north.
The 30-minute video, Kony2012, was produced by three American videographers campaigning for greater efforts to capture Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).
But Kony and his diminishing troops, many of them kidnapped child soldiers, fled northern Uganda six years ago and are now spread across the jungles of neighbouring countries.
“What that video says is totally wrong, and it can cause us more problems than help us,” said Dr Beatrice Mpora, director of Kairos, a community health organisation in Gulu, a town that was once the centre of the rebels’ activities.
“There has not been a single soul from the LRA here since 2006. Now we have peace, people are back in their homes, they are planting their fields, they are starting their businesses. That is what people should help us with.”

To Critics of KONY 2012 (by jollygraceokot)
Invisible Children released a video with Jolly Grace O. Andruvile, Invisible Children’s Regional ambassador addressing the critics of the campaign Kony 2012.
YouTube user MrAdamTommo commented:
“people aren’t against kony2012 they are against the invisible children foundation, and how they are rumoured to only spend 32% of there [their] money on this.”
As most of you know, Invisible Children launched a 30 minute viral campaign to get people involved to raise awareness of the ongoing conflict during Kony’s regime and to get the US government to recognize Kony’s crimes and to bring him to justice. The video has been watched by 36 million people worldwide.
There have been criticisms amongst the public, which I will explain further on.

Who is Joseph Kony and who is the LRA?
Invisible Children’s intentions are well meaning but they’re pushing for the arrest of Kony meaning;
I didn’t understand why people were opposing this cause because from what I’ve seen/heard/read, it seemed like a good idea, but if you focus on one side of the argument, it becomes thewhole argument. Because we only know what Invisible Children has told us and the lack of information causes us to form the opinion that’s desired of us. What if something bad happens while they intervene, and we have to consider the worst case scenario because it could become reality.
I still think we should do something, but this passive-aggressive, but amazingly inspiring and spirited campaign needs more than just posters; we need to figure out a clean and safe way to get Kony and his supporting commanders apprehended without them causing more damage than they have already; meaning that there should be more further civilian casualties, etc.
I advise you to read up on the conflict before you form an opinion based on somebody else’s opinion.

Invisible Children // Who is the LRA? (by invisiblechildreninc)
“A three minute video on Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), explaining the group’s motives, movement, and ability to carry out 25 years of atrocities in Central Africa.”
WHO IS JOSEPH KONY?
Joseph Kony is a Ugandan guerilla group leader who uses religion as a cover for terrorism, explained further on. He is one of the World’s 10 Most Wanted.
——
WHAT HAS HE DONE?
He enslaved 35,000 or more children, kidnapping whole boarding schools under the cover of the night to use them as child soliders.
There are 33 charges against him, 12 counts are crimes against humanity, which include murder, enslavement, sexual enslavement and rape.
There are another 21 counts of war crimes which include murder, cruel treatment of civilians, intentionally directing an attack against a civilian population, pillaging, inducing rape, and forced enlisting of children into the rebel ranks.
It has been said that “Kony was abducting girls to offer them as rewards to his commanders.”
Kony insists that he and the Lord’s Resistance Army are fighting for the Ten Commandments. He has been quoted saying:
“Yes, we are fighting for Ten Commandments,” and “Is it bad? It is not against human rights. And that commandment was not given by Joseph. It was not given by LRA. No, those commandments were given by God.”
WHAT CAN WE DO TO STOP HIM?
Well, to put simply, the USA government will not get involved unless the public makes them.
There is a 30 minute documentary explaining the full story here.
Get involved; like and share the video and join the campaign at Invisible Children.
